Paraskevi Hagia, paralavrion of Hosios Meletios

Area: Pournari, Oinoe
Type: Cross-in-Square
Date: 12th century

Description:

Another metochion of the Monastery of Hosios Meletios has been found in Pournari, where the church of Hagios Georgios lies. Nowadays, the church is in ruins. Nevertheless, it was possible to reconstruct its ground plan and thus we know that it was a two-columned, cross-in-square church. The masonry, which is only restricted in the conch of the sanctuary, is cloisonne;. The porous stone in the windows and the arches is elaborately worked. According to Pr. Bouras, the church is dated to the 12th century.
