DEFINITION

Mosaics: The Monastery mosaics constitute one of the three most dominant painting styles during the end of the 11th century. The first style is that of the Daphni Monastery with the strong classical influences. The second one is the style of Hosios Loukas with the schematic figures and the third one that of the New Monastery (Nea Moni) on Chios, where the first two styles are combined.
