Description:
Fragment of a mosaic pavement. A stork that pecks at a snake is inscribed on an octagonal surface with hollow diagonal sides, which is surrounded by a banded chainlike tress. Circles correspond externally to the four concave sides. The best preserved circle envelops a cross. Grace and naturalistic perception characterize the representation. It comes from the Basilica of Ilissos in Athens and it is dated to the fifth century A.D.
