Description:
Fragment of a mosaic pavement. A laurel wreath is inscribed on an octagonal surface with concave diagonal sides, which is surrounded by a banded chainlike tress. Four circles correspond externally to the four concave sides. The best preserved circle envelops a solar sign. Elegance and symmetry characterize the representation. It comes from the Basilica of Ilissos in Athens and it is dated to the fifth century A.D.
